If we are just using text it often becomes difficult for our employees to understand everything that we'd like to tell them. My name is Marianne Grimsøen and I work as an HR consultant in ISS. Currently we are using video for several things ...like conventions where our CEO presents the monthly company status. This is live streamed but we also record it and distribute it on the intranet after the event. We also use video for e-learning where we make videos of the things the organization should learn and use these videos for e-learning. We also have videos where we communicate things like management policies, company values and so on. We have so many different operations happening every day by our service workes. Everything from making a hotel bed to cutting a tree. This creates many situations where a service worker can become unsecure in their job and since its difficult to describe in text how you should cut that tree or make a hotel bed, being able to make a video of a situation is more efficient than trying to describe it with words. Also because some of our employees don't know Norwegian that well, making a long text document even more difficult to understand. I think ISS have many possibilities when it comes to using video in the future. But we are still dependent on getting all the technical parts in place when it comes to providing our employees with smartphones and tablets. We're not there just yet but hope to get there soon and that is when we can start using video even more in making short instruction videos, showing the different situations they encounter each day.
