Can you hear me? Yes! Welcome to Owens- Owensa, sorry, my Kiwi accent, oh I can't pronounce anything. I am Owen, I am your co-host today, co-host? I am your MC for today. That really great rap intro was not chosen by me. As you can tell, I'm not very gangster. We're so excited to have you here in Owensa for One Day Out. I was here last year, it was amazing and you're in for an incredible day today. The organizers asked me to tell you a little bit about myself, so I'm just going to quickly go through my 500 slides and tell you about New Zealand. Let's see if this thing works. So I'm from a very small country, as you might have guessed. It is all the way, oh, they went back. All the way down here, this tiny little dot, I think if you drill a hole it's literally probably on the other side of it. We're very sensitive about our place in the world and this entire website is dedicated to the fact that people constantly forget where we are and forget to include us on a map. I was literally looking at this this morning and I was like, holy crap, there's 17,000 people reading this thing. It's incredible. But when you think about New Zealand, you probably think about cliches. This is a video I took in January, quite literally. Couldn't cross for half an hour because there were too many sheep. You probably think about things like Lord of the Rings or you might have heard about the famous Kiwi flag debate. These were legitimate, by the way. I don't know why any New Zealand government, like the New Zealand government took requests from people, which is like, you don't do that. You should Google it if you haven't. It's really like a work of art. We also have great place names. I'm not going to pronounce this. Casper, one of the organizers tried earlier and failed. And this is actually the name of a hill. And we also have like, I don't know. I can't not laugh at this one. Our news cycle in New Zealand is so different from the rest of the world, it's insane. This is our prime minister. He was embroiled in a scandal pulling ponytails and it was a whole thing. Yep, this is a thing. Three-way handshake, yep, we've got it. And you might have seen this one on John Oliver. We currently are in a legal battle with the government because they ripped off Lose Yourself by Eminem. He's suing us. We also had this happen. I won't show the video, but you should look it up. But anyway, so I'm from New Zealand. I want to tell you about just a little bit of my, about myself. I have the shortest Twitter handle you'll probably ever meet. There's a story there. I can't tell you it because there's reasons, but you can come find me later and I'll tell you how I got that. I didn't have it from the beginning, so that's a little hint. Oh, I was going to say, I like Twitter a lot. 102,000 tweets. Yeah, it's a lot. So tweet me. Right now I live in Amsterdam, a beautiful, beautiful city. This is actually my street and I just, it's crazy, especially from New Zealand, but there's no hills. Anyway, I'm head of digital at a company in Amsterdam that makes smart bikes and electric bikes. We just launched this one yesterday. Our company's called Vimof and this one's our brand new one for Tokyo, so it's really cool. I'm also a bit of a developer. This is one of my favorite websites I've built. I thought I'd show you guys. I have to explain, actually. This is called, can I swear? Yeah, shit.photo. I was really interested in those new top level domains that came out and which ones banned swear words. Yeah, so photo didn't. So every day I posted a shitty photo from stock photo websites. It's gone now, sorry. I forgot to renew it. I also do a weekly newsletter called Charged. It goes out to about 12 to 15,000 people right now as a podcast. It's really cool. You should check it out. Anyway, enough about me. Let's talk about the conference. There is a fantastic hashtag called hashtag Odo17 and you should tweet all your tweets with that. Please. We'd love to see your tweets. Yeah, that's that. That's all you need to know about that. There'll be a break between each talk of about 10 to 15 minutes and you'll hear like this. Apparently, you'll hear a bell. I haven't heard it yet. Oh, okay. I'm sorry. But apparently, there'll be a bell and a bit of music. So please come back when it's time. Sometimes they might be a bit longer depending on how long each speaker goes for. This is a first for me. I've been to a lot of conferences and I've never had a conference organizer tell me that you're allowed to bring beer into the auditorium at any time of the day. There is a bar outside. The beer is great prices. So if you would like to partake in beer at 10 in the morning, please do. The toilets are downstairs. So you have to go down all the stairs and they're right by the entranceway. Easy enough to find. At the end of the day, we'll have some drinks outside in the little like park area. And what you should know is there's a little, you probably saw it on the way in, that there's a little green kind of thing with seats and stuff which you're allowed to use.
