Since you asked, I'll tell you the secret.
There are absolutely components to what works.
And more times than not,
it will go viral if you do these things.
Think about it in terms of how a wave works,
how the wave works at a stadium.
It's an interesting phenomenon because the
wave is no different than what goes on online.
If you have the right ingredients,
meaning it's simple,
I mean,
how much more simple can you get than standing up and sitting down?
It's led by one person.
Somebody started it.
It's low impact.
Not a lot of my time.
I just have to sit up and stand up and sit down.
Very, very fast and easy for me to do.
And the last ingredient is timing.
In San Francisco a couple years back,
there was a Make-A-Wish Foundation
and one of the children made a wish.
He wanted to be Batman for the day.
And not only was he and ended up becoming Bat Kid,
the entire city got behind it.
And there were maps,
interactive maps,
so you can follow his Bat Kid adventure
through the day online and then be able to see where he went.
But the interesting thing is not just
how people got behind him on that.
It's, well, why was this cool story?
It's the story of the emotional connection.
But also,
it was one blogger that actually wrote about this happening.
And that blogger's post spread virally everywhere.
And it was the connection to the story
and the simplicity of what people could do
to participate that day to help Bat
Kid to enjoy this awesome adventure.
So that's just one thing.
I mean, that's the emotional side.
You can apply this in business as well.
You can do that.
