It worked.
It works, yeah.
Okay.
The second last thing.
As you know,
Copenhagen for the Win is a member-based organization.
And it is because of the members we can do all of this.
We get no funding from outside,
so it's thanks to the good graces of all the good members that
we can actually afford doing this and getting all this happening.
Copenhagen for the Win is both for the startup,
which is two guys or girls in a garage just starting out.
They can become members.
And then up on through to the unicorns like Unity,
like Zendesk.
Since the last town hall,
we have had 24 new members signing on.
And I want to give them a shout out,
all of them.
They are Soundbox,
TradeShift,
Tradono,
Deemly,
TradeWorks.
GetQueried,
Maguru,
TranslatedByUs,
PeerGrade,
Conferize,
EarnIt,
Umbraco,
Arki,
TinyRebels,
Shelp,
Motosumo,
Sentry Analytics,
Analytics,
Meeploy,
Capdesk,
Forward,
Floragora,
Coinify,
Festivall,
and Fashionforest.
You can see them all up here.
And now I want to ask all the startups that
are presenting for JobErupt to be ready.
Because now we're starting something
completely new in our town halls.
And this is about meeting the startups that have a bunch of
jobs available and want to talk to you about their company
culture and how it is to work at their particular company.
So startups are not only about making
a great product and getting funding.
It's just as much about building teams.
These guys who will present to you now have
hundreds of jobs available this moment.
So let's get all the startups on stage.
First up is Jessica from Siteimprove.
Is it over to me now?
Okay,
I'm feeling a little bit nervous,
guys,
speaking in front of this many.
I feel like I want to puke.
So if you could give me a round of applause just to let me know.
As Christoph said,
my name is Jessica Anita Rose Sullivan Monk.
A very lovely name.
And I come from Siteimprove.
We were founded in 2003 in Denmark.
And since then we've grown from three dudes in a basement
coding away to more than 400 employees worldwide.
We have offices all over the world.
Our latest one was actually in my hometown,
Sydney,
Australia.
If anybody likes Sydney and Australia,
give me an applause.
I've never actually met anyone who doesn't like Sydney.
So thank you.
We were tasked with coming up here with just one
minute to tell you why you should come and work for us.
I've worked for the company for the last four years.
And to be honest, I absolutely fucking love it.
Yeah, we swear a lot in Australia.
One of the reasons that I love working
for Siteimprove is that we have freedom.
We have a flat structure and we get to do basically
whatever we want as long as we have resources.
There's a number of perks that I could go on about.
We have our own brewery.
Instead of calling it a Siteimprove IPA,
we call it a Siteimprove API,
which apparently developers find quite funny.
We have our own custom built gym.
We have a rooftop bar that was designed
specifically for our employees.
We have a gorgeous courtyard area.
We have a lot of different systems.
We're at the moment now,
we're scaling incredibly,
which means that we're looking for
people who want to think outside the box.
If you want to come and work for an
organization that makes a difference,
where you have the freedom to choose what you do,
when you do it,
we have great flex hours.
We have been consistently named one of Denmark's top IT places.
We were also named one of Denmark's 25 best workplace names.
You should come see us.
I have my lovely colleagues up the back.
If we all go and look at them and give them a round of applause.
We currently have 40 developers and we're
looking to double or triple this ASAP.
So if you are a developer and you're
looking for a job and a great place to work,
come visit us.
And we'd love to have a chat with you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Yeah.
You can meet all the startups at the wall.
Thank you.
Down here after in like eight minutes.
Hi.
My name is Gert Silvest.
I'm co-founder of TradeShift.
I'm together with this great bunch of
people standing at the bright balloons.
Before I talk about TradeShift,
I want to talk about the world.
So last year we passed 2 billion people connected in social networks.
But if you look at the world of business to business,
it's all paper,
PDFs,
Word documents, no software.
No structured documents,
no structured information.
So 0.5% of all companies today do digital transactions.
In 2010,
TradeShift decided we want to change that.
So have you seen Alien?
We are the tiny monster that is coming out of the stock
of SAP and Oracle and all the enterprise ERP systems.
We want to turn that inside out.
Build the nervous system,
the connectivity between companies first.
So everything based on collaboration.
We believe in 10 years no company will want to
use business software that is not connected,
collaborative and fosters digital transactions.
So in six years we went to almost a million companies in the network.
We used technology,
cloud,
machine learning to turn paper into digital transactions.
We believe we can use that to unlock the $7 trillion that is
caught up in the supply chain between companies at any day
in the year.
And we have a team of 100 people in Copenhagen.
Lots of engineers,
product people that love to do that.
And we have almost 60 positions open.
And we brought I think almost 17 people so
we can speak to everyone who's interested.
So we are 100 people in Copenhagen,
350 people worldwide.
And we are happy to talk to you.
We just came back from China,
a trip in Chongqing.
There might be special adventures for people
in China as well if they are the right people.
This is part of the team meeting in the U.S.
on a team camp earlier and simulating
the next six months of the company.
We like to work together on solving big problems.
Thank you.
Thank you, Gerhard.
And next up we have Morten from China.
From SimpleSight.
Hi there.
My name is Morten.
So imagine Nikki from Amsterdam.
She makes jewelry part time.
And she wants to sell it online so she needs a website.
So she goes to Google.
She finds SimpleSight.
And 10 minutes later she has a website and
she's put her first item up for sale online.
Now what's special about SimpleSight is that it's amazingly simple.
Anyone anywhere in the world can figure out how to use it.
Nobody,
really nobody is allowed to leave us because it's too hard.
For that reason,
400,000 new users every single month create a website with us.
That's 400,000 users around the world.
They go there because of the amazing simplicity.
We're 60 people in Copenhagen.
We go to work every single day trying to make SimpleSight even
simpler and even more enchanting for those 400,000 people.
So if you're a gifted developer or you're a gifted
creative and you care about extreme usability and
care about massive feedback from a lot of users,
come see us later about a job just over there.
Thank you.
Thank you, Morten.
Next up we have William from Realm.
Hi.
So first off,
who actually knows what Realm does?
Can I see that?
Okay.
Our marketing needs to do a little better here.
So Realm is actually running in all of your pockets today.
And that's because Realm is a mobile database
technology that's used by a lot of the big apps today.
It's used by more than 100,000 developers.
And they're powering the apps that runs in a billion devices.
And they have a billion users.
So that's not a million but a billion with a B.
That's quite a lot, actually.
So it's also a database technology that
is used more than any other technology,
at least database technology,
in the world today.
And that includes Google, Microsoft, whatever.
It doesn't matter.
So the interesting part here is if you're interested,
go to Realm.com. If you're interested or know somebody who is interested in
actually developing new technology that powers the future apps,
then come talk to us.
We're just over here.
Thank you.
Thank you, Brian.
Next up is Henrik from Templify.
Hello.
It's me.
I'm Henrik from Templify.
Templify helps 200,000 users create documents
and presentations that look good and are great.
The culture of Templify is one of work-life balance.
We kick ass when we work and we have fun doing it,
says Asghar.
And then we use our private life to reload with friends and family.
And the number of babies that our
team has produced proves that point.
We're looking for the best UI and UX designers around.
And if that is one of you, go to the bar.
Go to the bar.
Grab a drink.
And come over and meet us over here.
Or send me an mail at henrik at templify.com.
But only if hello,
it's me,
makes you think of Adele and not Lionel Richie.
Thank you, Henrik.
Next up is Matthias from GoMore.
Thank you.
I'm going to turn it off.
Thank you.
I'll just have a minute.
Okay.
Thanks.
So I'm standing for Mikkel Marius,
our CMO here tonight,
who is ill.
So one of the perks of working with GoMore
is that you don't have to pitch your company
when you're really, really sick.
That's okay.
We left Mikkel home.
It's just me doing a short talk here for one minute.
So why should you work for GoMore?
I think one of the reasons is that we are really,
really good at finding people who
are really good at what they're doing,
but also who have a broader perspective on things.
So we have fantastic engineers,
we have fantastic marketing and salespeople,
and fantastic people
in our customer care departments.
We are good at finding people with bright
minds but broader interests in life.
I think that's also because we are doing what we're doing.
We're changing things socially for people.
They change behavior in Denmark and in Spain
and France and other countries where they're
working now because we let people meet each
other and share experiences when traveling
together or sharing cars with each other.
So it's a socially innovative thing,
and we like to work with people who care about culture
and society and how we live together,
but who are at the same time extremely good at
what they're doing.
It's a fun group of people.
We have a lot of fun,
and we would be happy to meet some of you.
We're going to stand over there tonight or in the bar.
I hope to meet some of you.
Thanks.
Thanks, Matthias.
Next up, we have Martin from Trustpilot.
Hello.
So just a quick word of warning.
There will be a cheesy joke at the end,
so you have something to look forward to.
So I'm going to assume most of you know Trustpilot and what we do,
but did you know we also build cars?
This is made from pixels and put over
the wall during one of our hackathons.
So we also build great products,
and we have really,
really great people and intelligent
people to do it with.
I learn from them every day.
That's why you should come and work with Trustpilot.
And we also do,
as I mentioned,
hackathons,
20% projects,
and we have awesome social events.
It usually ends up at a gay bar.
But if you like that,
not the gay part,
but the other thing,
you should go to Jumbo.com.
You should go to jobs.trustpilot.com and look what we have.
Or go buy a booth over there.
Smile and wave, guys.
Yeah.
And now for the cheesy joke.
So join us,
and let's outrun the competition together.
Thanks, Martin.
Next up is Thomas from 23.
Thank you.
I'm Thomas Madsen-Magdal, CEO and founder of 23.
And yes, I'm also still using Podio.
At 23,
we deeply believe in the world going from textual to visual.
We've been on this journey for very long.
Half of the content people share on social platforms today is visual.
Visual is a silent,
deeply fundamental shift that nobody
notices because everyone is preoccupied
with machine learning,
AI,
and self-driving cars.
So, yeah.
We're bootstrapped.
One of the few companies in Copenhagen that
still hasn't taken investment yet is a growth
company.
We just in June launched our video marketing
platform that fundamentally changes how companies
do video.
We run your video on all platforms,
YouTube,
Twitter,
Facebook,
and on your own website
and integrate with the rest of your
marketing stack so you really can work video.
Our ambition is to be the core video component of every company.
We're a video component of every company's marketing stack.
Just like with Podio,
we just opened an office in San Francisco on 4th and Market.
We have a beautiful office in Copenhagen.
You might have been there to a party, I'm sure.
We believe in talent.
I believe in talent.
We're doing a lot to empower young staffers.
We're doing a lot to empower people internally
in companies who do entrepreneurial shit.
We're currently working for plus 300 companies globally.
We're looking currently for 15 positions,
including a few people for our San Francisco
office where,
unlike with Podio,
I'm only hiring European people and putting them in
SF.
So,
we're hiring a lot of Europeans to staff up our SF office.
So,
if anyone wants to spend the next 24 months in SF,
go and hit up our blog down there or
check out our currently open job listings.
Thank you, Thomas.
And in two minutes,
and I mean two minutes,
you can meet them all right down here.
So, thank you for coming.
So, last thing of the town hall.
Thanks to you guys for being here.
It's great to see you all.
I hope you stick around,
meet the startups,
go get some beer,
some wine,
hang out.
It's a beautiful summer evening.
I just want to thank the people that make this all happen.
Vivino for the bar,
Soundbox for the music,
you will hear in a minute,
23 for the livestream,
all the startups presenting here,
Robert Scoble and Copenex,
live company for the production,
then Grohe for the venue,
and of course,
all the great volunteers.
All the great volunteers who are working,
you know,
extra double time to making this happen.
So,
if you see a girl or a guy in a red t
-shirt saying Copenhagen for the win,
give them a high five or maybe a kiss or something like that.
So, let's give everybody a big hand.
But we have one last thing.
And it is a story about how relationships,
magic and love happens at town hall events.
And for this,
I would like to introduce again Thomas
Madsen-Mygdahl and Niklas of Trustpilot.
Okay.
So,
all this Copenhagen for the win thing started
when a few of us were having a cup of coffee.
It might be a mind-boggling thing when
we're looking out this room tonight.
Good evening, the grey hall.
Always wish to do that.
So,
in Copenhagen for the win,
the philosophy has always been to bring people together.
That this ecosystem is about building
connections between each one of us.
Not about external support,
not about pledging government for money,
not about old rich families that should save the ecosystem.
But about each one of us relating a little bit more,
getting to know each other a little bit more.
A lot of this might sound like hippie shit.
Some of us like that type of stuff.
But others might not.
So,
to highlight how important this stuff is,
we have Niklas Stevenson from Trustpilot
to share a little bit of story.
The story is basically what happens when two people,
instead of just looking at each other,
of just looking at the stage and doing like all these
impolite people down here chatting to each other.
What happens when two old timers in the Copenhagen
ecosystem who never had chatted to each other,
actually at the last town hall,
chatted to each other.
The story broke 1744 today.
It's currently the headline news at VentureBeat.
And Niklas is here to give you the whole announcement.
Give him a big hand.
Thanks a lot, Thomas.
So...
At the last town hall in May,
I was not looking at the stage.
I was standing outside drinking a beer.
And I got to talk with Jesper from Sendesk.
And we got to talk about these two great Danish
startups that are both in the customer service world.
So Trustpilot and Sendesk.
And we got to talk about why there is no love between the two.
And basically what Jesper whispered in my
eye is that they were doing something secret.
They were launching something they call Any Channel.
That would enable any company to build a channel to Sendesk.
And of course they wanted Trustpilot to be a part of it.
So what I can launch today is that now
Trustpilot is built directly into Sendesk.
It will enable customer service people to reply
and interact on Trustpilot directly within Sendesk.
And as Thomas said,
this is a good story because this
happened only back in May at Town Hall 8.
And we launched today 10 minutes before Town Hall 9 started.
So all you guys need to do is hit the bar,
talk with each other and have a good time.
Thanks a lot.
Okay.
Hello.
So when I stop talking,
we'll open up the bar again.
We're going to do this really fast.
I announced the competition.
You guys have to guess how many wines
have ever been scanned with Vivino.
And we got a lot of good stuff in the bar.
A few of you know that I'm actually a journalist by education.
I studied in Aarhus journalism.
And we had a class called Research.
And it seems like this generation is not really into that.
So you guys just made a lot of weird guesses.
When really you could have just gone to our website and looked it up.
So there was one guy in the audience who did this.
And I'm proud to say that he is also a journalist
showing that this is not all down the drain in Denmark.
So please quickly welcome to the stage Peter from Burson.
Where are you?
Here you go.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for visiting our website.
Thank you.
Thanks for the prize.
And for those who want to know the number,
the number is 288 million.
So just above a quarter of a billion
wines have been scanned with Vivino,
which is pretty awesome.
Let's get some more photos into the database tonight.
And have a great time.
And the bar is open.
Thanks, Thijs.
Yes, what Niklas and Thijs have been saying.
Go meet people.
Go have conversations with people who don't know.
Get a beer.
I know I'm getting one.
Thanks for tonight.
Here
you go.
Come on, let's go.
interacting tonight.
Yes, we do.
Yes, we do.
Yes, we do.
