Humans on Video - Dan Duffett
Hello, how are you doing? Very well, great to be here, thank you. Nice, would you want to introduce yourself? Absolutely, my name is Dan Duffett and I am the new Head of Client Strategy at TwentyThree. And what inspired you to pursue this career path? Do you know what, by training I'm actually an art historian. Okay. And so since then I've always been fascinated by the power of the image, be that from say Giotto or Delacroix or even Warhol. The image has always been powerful. And so in many ways video is the extension of that. It's the power of video and what it can do to educate, what it can do to persuade and where it really fits in with how people can understand stuff. Then what are you looking to achieve in this new position? So quite a few things really. Shine a light on video strategy and where that fits in with an overall marketing strategy. Here at TwentyThree I want to focus on really cementing a strong point of view on video plans, on video strategy and then working with our teams here and working with clients to develop that strategy for them within their marketing plans and make sure that our products can effectively deliver absolutely the best value for them to push their marketing efforts forward. Okay, you sound like someone that's going to fit perfectly at TwentyThree. I hope so, that's the aim. Absolutely. And as someone fresh, what calls your attention the most here at the company? Oh, that's pretty easy, you know. It's energy, pure and simple. And all that I think comes to the fact that there's a really good amount of young, international, interesting people but they just bring energy to the conversation, to everything we're doing. And also if you could describe your work style in three words, what would that be? Okay, so let's roll with approachable. Okay. Yeah. Focused and creative. And if you were in this profession, what would you be doing? You know, that comes back I think to the art history. And art history, you know, it's about imagery but it's also about architecture. If I were to do it differently, yeah, it would be, you know, house design, living design. Talking about this potential paths, it got me a little bit curious about different skills you might have. Do you have any skills or talents that people don't think you have? I have so many. Okay. Tell me about it. I mean, just overflowing with talent. Oh my God. Amazing. I don't know where to start. Years ago, I actually used to work for a very famous watchmaker based out of Geneva. But I never bought one or wore one because I've always been able to tell the time to within two minutes at any time of the day if someone asked me. For real? Yeah, for real. I have like an internal... Internal. I mean, it's like, yeah, yeah. It is actually ticking. It's ticking. And so, yeah, I mean, I'm usually pretty accurate. What time is it now? It's 11... 16. Daniel? 11.15. Did I get... What is it? Okay, I'm shocked. I'll go with one minute. Okay, okay. That was impressive. I'm relieved. Yeah. Okay, imagine. Yeah, yeah. Imagine if that went wrong. But that went right, yeah? And my last question for you today. Yeah. What is the best piece of career advice that you've ever received? Yeah, that's a great question. This guy said to me, as a company, we buy characters. We buy people. Yeah. So be you. They wanted that youth, that interest, that energy. And I've kept that with me. Just like, be yourself because businesses need the individuals. They need the perspectives. And so I take that with me all the time. I work for that in people I work with. And I encourage that. That makes for happy people in the workplace, which, yeah, you know, that's super important. I love it. That's great. Thank you so much for sharing. Hey, absolute pleasure. Looking forward to kicking off here and getting stuck in to everything we're going to do. Yes, amazing. Well, stay tuned for more. Bye. Bye.
